Understand the ancient science behind your healing. Learn about your dosha, Ceylon Ayurveda, and what to expect from treatment.
In Ayurveda, every person has a unique constitution made up of three energies — called doshas. Understanding your dosha is the starting point for all personalised Ayurvedic care.
The energy of movement. Associated with air and space, Vata governs breathing, circulation, and nerve impulses. Vata imbalance often shows as anxiety, dryness, or irregular digestion.
The energy of transformation. Associated with fire and water, Pitta governs digestion, metabolism, and intellect. Imbalance shows as inflammation, irritability, or skin conditions.
The energy of structure. Associated with earth and water, Kapha governs stability, lubrication, and immunity. Imbalance shows as weight gain, congestion, or sluggishness.
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems, originating in the Indian subcontinent over 5,000 years ago. The word comes from Sanskrit: Ayur (life) and Veda (knowledge).
Unlike Western medicine, which often focuses on treating symptoms, Ayurveda seeks to identify and address the root cause of illness — restoring the natural balance of body, mind, and spirit.
Ceylon Ayurveda is the distinct Sri Lankan tradition, with its own herbal formulations, clinical approaches, and treatment methods refined over thousands of years. It is the foundation of everything we practise at Krishi Ayurveda & Yoga.
Yes. Ayurvedic practitioners in Australia operate under professional bodies including the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT). Our practitioners hold BAMS (Hons) — the equivalent of a university degree in Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery.
Ceylon Ayurveda is the Sri Lankan tradition — it shares the same classical foundations but has developed its own distinct herbal formulations, treatment protocols, and clinical approaches over thousands of years. Our practitioners were trained and practised in Sri Lanka before bringing their expertise to Perth.
Absolutely. Ayurveda works well alongside conventional medicine. Please inform your practitioner of any medications or treatments you are currently receiving so your Ayurvedic plan can be designed accordingly.
Acute conditions may respond within a few sessions. Chronic conditions — built up over months or years — typically require a longer course of treatment. Your practitioner will give you a realistic timeline based on your individual assessment.
All herbal formulations used at Krishi Ayurveda & Yoga are selected and administered by qualified BAMS practitioners. They are prescribed specifically for your constitution and condition. We always account for any existing medications or health conditions before recommending herbs.
